Contracts was formed in 1988 by Martyn MacLeod
and Pippa MacLeod as a family business and
still remains under the ownership of the
two directors today.
Initially the business supplied internal
and external doors to the building industry
with the majority of its clients being local
house builders operating within a 20 mile
radius of the initial office base situated
at Lion Chambers in the centre of Huddersfield.
A move to larger premises soon followed
at Batleys Mill and later Colwyn Street
and the business also benefited from a steady
growth in staff. By the late nineties the
business had established itself as a door
specialist and became one of the first members
of the Fire Door Aperture Scheme through
the BWF. Adam Garside was installed as general
manager, taking care of day to day operations
and thereby enabling managing director Martyn
MacLeod to concentrate on taking the business
forward.
